Housing Grant

BML Housing Grant is the fourth initiative of a series of 12 high-impact monthly community initiatives to celebrate the lead up to BML’s 40th anniversary in November 2022. The Housing Grant aims to build fully furnished 3-bedroom houses for three vulnerable families in need of safe housing across the Maldives that were nominated by NGOs and Island Councils.

Evaluation criteria

• The recipient must be living in a house/land/lot they own or stand to fully inherit
• Access to water and electricity
  
• Available sanitation facilities
• Basic structure of the house and live-able space

Selection process

The review and selection process are undertaken by an internal panel at BML and will go through the following stages.

Stage 1

• Initial screening for completeness of the information and documents and relevance to the eligibility criteria
• Evaluation of the applications and shortlist  households
  
  

Stage 2

• BML teams will visit the households and make a qualitative assessment with NGO or council
• 3 households will be selected.
• BML will award the project of building and furnishing of the houses directly to contractors and handover the finished houses to the recipients through the NGOs or councils.
