Direct Debit enables our customers to pay their utility bills on time regularly without taking the burden of going to the counters of respective utilities. It saves time spent for visiting the respective vendor's counters for payment of the bills and avoids the risk of being penalized for late payments. Customers of vendors are required to become a customer of the bank to apply for this service. Applications for the service are available at the counters of respective vendor and from the Bank as well. Bank has made Direct Debit service arrangement with Dhivehiraajege Gulhun Private Limited, (Dhiraagu), Maldives Water and Sewerage Company Limited (MWSC) and State Electric Company Limited, (STELCO).
This service is available free of charge for customers, Vendors bear the charges for the service. Bank of Maldives customers willing to avail the service need to be registered with the vendor. The vendor will confirm the registration in writing upon submission of the applications duly filled by the customers after the confirmation from bank. Customers are advised to accommodate cover for the payments in their accounts on or before due date of the bills.
The bills are delivered to the customers as usual. A debit Cardholder of the Bank may verify and ensure balance and the payments by obtaining a mini-statement from any of Bank of Maldives Plc ATMs or MIB at any time if required. Direct Debit Service registration may be cancelled in writing to the respective vendors.
